Manchester United won’t have Scott McTominay available to face Newcastle United next weekend.
The Scotland international has been suspended after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season for a foul in Sunday’s 2-1 win against Everton.
Erik ten Hag decided to start Casemiro instead of McTominay on Sunday in a bid to give the new signing minutes in the Premier League.
On top of that, the manager was expected to make changes to his team after last weekend’s 6-3 derby defeat.
With less than 10 minutes remaining, McTominay replaced Christian Eriksen, but it only took him two minutes to receive a yellow card.
The midfielder had already been cautioned against Brighton, Brentford, Southampton, and Arsenal.
McTominay’s one-match ban means we will see Casemiro start consecutive games in the Premier League for the first time. The Brazilian was at fault for Everton’s opener, but he grew into the game and contributed to Cristiano Ronaldo’s winning goal.
Not a problem, it’s only Newcastle.
