Manchester United are set for talks over Alejandro Garnacho’s future, according to reports.
Our friends at Sport Witness have cited a report from Spanish publication AS, which states that the Red Devils are desperate to keep the young forward.
There are high hopes for Garnacho at United – just like there was when Paul Pogba was coming through the academy, but things didn’t go to plan because the French midfielder left on a free to join Juventus before he could have any impact on the first team.
United don’t want a similar situation with Garnacho, so it would make sense to begin talks with the youngster’s entourage about signing a new contract.
It is understood that Erik ten Hag is keen to ensure that Garnacho remains at United, despite reported interest from Real Madrid.
I would be shocked if there wasn’t more elite clubs in the running for his signature if United run in complications over a new deal.
The manager might need to reward Garnacho with game time in the Europa League or another cup competition to convince the youngster that he will get minutes under his belt at United. Otherwise, it could open the door for another big club to swoop in and pinch him.
