Strettycast 155: Disappointing derby – Ten Hag’s selection, tactics, Ronaldo snub

Manchester City destroy Manchester United which is something that is becoming frightfully familiar.

The only positive we can take from the game is Anthony Martial’s appearance off the bench, so sit back and listen to Dale and Shaun discuss the rest.

From Erik ten Hag’s team selection, United’s tactics and lack of belief, and why the manager was RIGHT to snub Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench.

Next up for United is a trip to Cyprus in the Europa League.

  1. does every irish united fan have the same opinions or is it just an editorial decision?

Ten hag got it wrong, and not just wrong, disastrously wrong. it was 6-1 when city took 4 players off and then united pulled 2 back. it could have been 8-9. yet united fans make it out like thats just how it goes against city.. insane how people have accepted that.

starting bruno, mctominay and eriksen is the reason united got pummeled. these three can barely keep the ball, particularly mct and bruno. united need players who can hold onto the ball against a team like city, in fact against any team.

the fact that bruno is still starting every game should be setting the alarm bells off with ETH. seems like a good talker so far and not much else. united havent dominated a game for more than 20 mins so far. hardly ETH ball, more like wally ball.

  2. also just to touch on the not changing a winning team.

that would be applicable if there was momentum and the opponent/occasion were similar to previous matches – however as you guys acknowledged there was a month break so it should not have applied here. and further it shouldn’t have applied against a city team on fire at the etihad.

really poor from ETH and as said it should get some alarm bells ringing.
