Manchester United tried to sign Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli during this summer’s transfer window.

That’s according to a recent report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, who claims the Red Devils put an offer together for Locatelli but were left disappointed after the midfielder rejected the chance to move to Old Trafford.

It is not known exactly what United’s proposal was, but no doubt it would have been significant, considering how highly-rated the 24-year-old is.

Although the former AC Milan midfielder is only on loan at Juventus, given his contractual conditions, it is expected that his move to Turin will turn permanent at the end of the 2022-23 season.

However, interestingly, although widely regarded as one of the country’s most exciting talents, even though United were unable to convince him to try out the Premier League and Arsenal were also believed to have asked about his availability, Calciomercato believe that ‘The Old Lady’ would still be interested in hearing offers, if and when they sign the midfielder on a permanent deal.

Since joining Juventus just over 12 months ago, Locatelli, who also has 24 senior international caps to his name, has gone on to feature in 50 matches, across all competitions, directly contributing to eight goals along the way.
