Rio Ferdinand is following his heart when predicting the Manchester derby.
As a Manchester United fan, it can be hard not to – but we are facing the best side in the league this weekend. It won’t be a walk in the park by any stretch of the imagination.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube show, Ferdinand previewed the Manchester derby (via Manchester Evening News): “That’s going to be a big one. Do I fancy United to win it? I think score draw I’m going to go for. Maybe that’s my heart over my head, but I’m going to go score draw.”
The two rivals will lock horns on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester United go into the game looking for their fifth Premier League win on the bounce, while Man City remain unbeaten after dropping just two points since the beginning of the season.
City are also the league’s leading scorers on home turf this season – scoring 14 goals in just three games at the Etihad. They are more than a force to be reckoned with now Erling Haaland is leading their attack. The Norwegian has scored 11 goals in 7 games since joining City in the summer.
Meanwhile, this will be United’s first Premier League fixture for nearly a month this weekend.
City did the double over United by an aggregate scoreline of 6-1 last season. It should go without saying that we don’t want a repeat of that!
