Goalkeeper analyst John Harrison has released a table showing the ranking of all first-choice keepers in the Premier League.
Harrison explains that the model evaluates every action a keeper makes on the pitch, including every shot faced, pass received, crosses and through balls. It also measures the probability of a goal for and against the keeper’s team before and after every event.
The #PremierLeague is back!
How has your team’s GK performed?#Pickford’s class shot stopping & distribution puts him top 🏴#Pope, #Henderson, & #Leno have had great starts at their new clubs🧤
Big mistakes have cost #DeGea & #Ramsdale 😱#Ward has struggled in all areas 😞 pic.twitter.com/JGUAZO2OvW

The analysis doesn’t read too well for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea because Harrison claims the Spaniard is performing below Premier League average standards due to three big factors.
- Shot stopping error versus Brentford
- Cross claiming mistake against Brighton for the first goal
- Poor passing leading to possession loss in his own half
For those interested in #DeGea, he is performing below #PL average standards due to 3 factors:
• His shot stopping mistake against #Brentford
• His cross claiming mistake vs #Brighton for the 1st goal
• His generally poor passing & giving the ball away in his own half#MUFC https://t.co/F2TKRRs4Rl— John Harrison (@Jhdharrison1) September 30, 2022
Meanwhile, Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson is among the top four keepers in the league.
Henderson may not be the most popular figure at Old Trafford after his recent talkSPORT interview, but it will be interesting to see what Erik ten Hag does with him at the end of the season.
Jordan Pickford tops the list and he has been linked with a summer move to Chelsea and United.
Let us know in the comments section if you have any concerns about De Gea’s future at United. Should we sell or trigger the extension in his current deal?
