Cristiano Ronaldo given deadline to react to FA charge

Cristiano Ronaldo has until October 10 to provide a response to the Football Association over his charge of alleged improper conduct.

The FA decided to charge Ronaldo with a breach of FA Rule R3 for an incident that occurred last season, against Everton on April 9, and he now has until October 10 to respond (via Manchester Evening News).

Footage caught Ronaldo knocking a fan’s phone to the floor as United players walked down the tunnel at Goodison Park following a 1-0 loss.

It doesn’t shine the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in a positive light, but to punish him now – six months later — seems a bit ridiculous.

Why didn’t they tackle the issue on the head before the end of last season?

I’m sure Ronaldo regrets his actions at Goodison Park, even though they were in the heat of the moment. It’s inexcusable but I always find it funny when fans feel hard done by whenever a footballer gives it back. Ronaldo and co take abuse from fans every week.

More on Ronaldo’s response when he have it.
