Erik ten Hag is aiming to make it five wins from the last five games in the Premier League as his side finally returns to Premier League action on Sunday.

Manchester United will be making the trip across town to face Manchester City, who are second in the table and five points ahead of the Reds.

There are, however, a couple of injury concerns for Ten Hag to consider going into the game. Marcus Rashford, United’s top goalscorer this season, has missed United’s last two games with a muscle injury. Anthony Martial, who has only featured once this season, is also a doubt for the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo could be handed a lifeline in his search for a starting role at Old Trafford, having made appearances from the bench in each of the last four league games.

He is, however, off the mark for the season after he scored against FC Sheriff in the Europa League before this week’s international break.

David de Gea will start the game after spending two weeks at Carrington and it would be surprising if Ten Hag made any changes to the defence that has excelled for the last couple of weeks, keeping three clean sheets from five games in all competitions.

Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen are likely to make up the midfield again but with the potential loss of Rashford, there is a chance Ten Hag looks to add Casemiro for solidity.

Further up the pitch, Jadon Sancho and Antony will be looking to extend their promising form as Bruno Fernandes eyes another derby win on the record.
