Harry Maguire set to be ruled out of Manchester derby

It’s been a bad week for Harry Maguire.

With criticism stemming from every corner, the Manchester United skipper had a game to forget against Germany when he was at fault for two goals.

Matters were made worse when Maguire sustained a knock against the Germans.

England captain Harry Kane confirmed that Maguire played on through injury at the end of the match and it now looks like he is out of contention for the much-awaited Manchester derby this weekend.

“Harry [Maguire] had a pretty decent injury at the end there, but carried on for the final 10 minutes on almost one leg,” Kane told reporters, as per Manchester Evening News. “Great character, really proud of him.”

According to The Star, Maguire will miss the game against Manchester City this weekend.

It’s unlikely that he would have played anyway – but as an option, Maguire usually has a place on the bench. The issue keeping him out is believed to be related to the defender’s hamstring and there is no timeline on when he could recover.

Maguire’s injury aside, United can count themselves lucky this international break. None of our key players got hurt and we should have a full-strength side to face City.
