Manchester United ace Christian Eriksen was critical of his own performance following Denmark’s 2-1 defeat to Croatia in the Nations League on Thursday night.
The 30-year-old midfielder scored a brilliant equalising goal from distance, but he was unable to prevent the Danes from defeat. They were unable to keep the scoreline level for more than two minutes as Croatia edged ahead again.
Eriksen believes he made too many mistakes in the game and feels he contributed to the defeat. It’s a harsh assessment for a player who has been outstanding for Manchester United since the beginning of the season.
Speaking to Tipsbladet, Eriksen reflected on the 3-1 defeat against Croatia: “Bitter, I think. I actually think that we have a relatively even match.
“In the first half we are fine and created enough opportunities compared to them – and then they score at a bad time, so it’s a bit of a mixed feeling during the match. Personally, I make a lot of mistakes, which means that they come into play in some dangerous situations.
“So, it’s the little things that make us not good enough.”
Eriksen has already been acknowledged for his fine performances at United, after winning the Player of the Month award for September, beating fellow nominees Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho.
He was at the centre of several stellar performances in September as United stretched their winning run in the Premier League to four matches.
