Former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-sung could not contain his excitement after the Red Devils’ memorable win against Liverpool earlier this season.
Park’s wife has detailed how the 41-year-old reacted to the 2-1 win over Liverpool.
“We were dropping kids off in an elevator and then he suddenly goes [gasps],” she said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “I’ve never seen him getting this excited for anything. So I asked him ‘what happened?!’ Then he goes ‘we [United] actually won!’”
She was then asked if Park was more or less excited when South Korea beat Germany at the 2018 World Cup, replying: “[It was] not even comparable.”
Manchester United went into the game against Liverpool after a poor start to the season – losing their first two games against Brighton and Brentford. At the time, expectations were low, but we were facing a Liverpool side that drew their first two matches, so there was a chance that we could use the fixture to get on track for the season.
Jadon Sancho gave United the lead 16 minutes into the game and Marcus Rashford doubled our lead after the interval. There was some late drama when Mohamed Salah pulled one back but Erik ten Hag’s side did enough to secure the win.
We’re sure Park was smiling for the evening after that win!
