Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier this week.

The Sun claim the Portuguese striker is being considered by United and that he could be available at £25 million in the summer.

It was hard to believe since Ramos reportedly has a £100m release clause and he has managed to score eight goals in 12 matches this season.

When you consider how they took Liverpool for a ride with their Darwin Nunez price tag, I don’t think Benfica will be looking to do any favours next summer.

However, there has been an update from A Bola

The report claims that Benfica are trying to tie Ramos down to a new deal to fend off interest from other clubs, even though I doubt they will have any problems with the apparent release clause if that is true.

With Cristiano Ronaldo in the final year of his contract and 37-years-old, it would make sense for United to scout the market for the next best goalscorer in Europe.

We missed the train for Erling Haaland in the summer.

Ramos has a big season ahead of him to attract the best suitors in Europe because there is a shortage of rising strikers in the game. Benjamin Sesko is another young option United missed out on in the summer.
