David de Gea picks his favourite Manchester United jersey

David de Gea has picked his favourite Manchester United shirt.

The Spanish goalkeeper joined Manchester United back in 2011 for a fee of £22.5m and remains our first-choice option under Erik ten Hag.

He had big gloves to fill at Old Trafford after replacing Edwin van der Sar, but down the years we’ve watched him gradually grow into his jersey and become one of the Premier League’s greatest shot stoppers.

De Gea may not hold the title as the world’s best at this moment in time, but he will forever be remembered as a terrific club servant after spending most of his playing years at Old Trafford.

Speaking to BT Sport’s What I Wore, De Gea was asked to choose his favourite United shirt (quotes via Manchester Evening News): “I love black shirts.

“I love them because black is my favourite colour so that is why I love the black one. It is very nice, I love all the shirts but the black ones are the best.”

De Gea was in action again on Thursday night when he kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over FC Sheriff in the Europa League.
