(Video) Diogo Dalot praises Antony after sparkling Man Utd debut

Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Arsenal was crucial for a number of reasons. For Erik ten Hag, it was the fourth consecutive win in the Premier League after a troublesome start to the season.

For Antony, it was his debut after protracted negotiations with Ajax which eventually culminated in a big-money move on transfer deadline day.

The 22-year-old scored the opening goal for United in the game as he immediately became a fan-favourite at Old Trafford. In truth, he was surprisingly named in the starting side after completing the move just 72 hours earlier.

Diogo Dalot is expected to partner Antony on the right-hand flank for the majority of this season and speaking ahead of Thursday’s Europa League game against Real Sociedad, Dalot has praised Antony following his debut.

“I think you could see, really, the impact that he had straight away in our team,” Dalot told Sky Sports, as seen above. “Obviously, it will take time for us to adapt to him and him to adapt to us as well.

“But I think he adapted really quickly, the few days that he had in training and especially in the game. Obviously, it makes it a little bit easier to speak with him because I can speak with him in Portuguese, it comes a little bit quicker than in English.

“I think he is a very, very good kid. And very open to get help as well, which is good. I think he will adapt quickly but obviously, everyone welcomes him as if he was here for a very long time. I’m sure he will be very successful here.”

Antony is expected to be watching Thursday’s game from the sidelines as Ten Hag could use the game to give other players the chance to impress, with some key figures remaining on the bench throughout United’s four-game winning streak.

Cristiano Ronaldo could start the game in Antony’s place, having made appearances from the bench in all of those four games.
