(Video) Gary Neville claims Arsenal deserved to lose against United

Gary Neville has explained why Arsenal didn’t deserve to win against Manchester United.

Arsenal spent phases of the match on top, but after they equalised in the second half, United pushed back in front and won the match 3-1.

Mikel Arteta panicked after United scored a second goal when he made a triple substitution that changed the game in favour of the Red Devils.

Speaking after the match, Neville said there was naivety of Arteta’s part, despite their impressive performance: “What shocked Arsenal was that second goal going in. It came against the run of play and Arsenal did not handle that point in the game very well.

“They deserved to lose the game because they never handled that second goal going in. Arsenal, if they just kept playing the way they were, they’d have got back into the game.

“As soon as they lost their shape with all those substitutions, United were always likely to score that third on the counter attack.”

Although Arsenal has spells of domination, they rarely threatened David de Gea, who had a quiet day at the office. United made sure to keep Aaron Ramsdale busy at the other end.
