Manchester United duo make Premier League team of the week after beating Arsenal

Two Manchester United players earn a place in the Premier League team of the week.

Writing for BBC Sport, Garth Crooks listed Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford in his preferred XI after the weekend’s results in the Premier League.

Manchester United beat Arsenal 3-1 at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Antony and Rashford. The result put a stop to the 100 per cent record held by Gunners, which thankfully is no more after Erik ten Hag’s side rained on their parade.

It was clear throughout the game that everything was coming from Eriksen in the middle of the pitch. The Dane pulled all the strings and earned a second man of the match performance in as many games.

Crooks wrote: “Eriksen was the player who provided the touch of class required to open Arsenal up and he did it on more than one occasion.”

Rashford is another player deserving of a special mention for his two goals in Sunday’s game. His problems with confidence over the past year appear to be erased, but there’s still a lot of work to do if he wants to get into the England squad for the World Cup.

When it came to Rashford, Crooks said: “He looked good against Arsenal and took both of his goals well but in order to be the best he will need to keep focused to maintain the consistency that was lacking last season.”

BBC Sport team of the week: Pickford; Coady, Gomez, Chilwell; Billing, Hojbjerg, Eriksen, Mac Allister; Rashford, Haaland, Toney.
