Eric Bailly drops hint over United future at Marseille presentation

Eric Bailly has all but confirmed that his Manchester United career has reached its conclusion.

Although the Ivorian defender remains on the books at Old Trafford, Bailly is spending the current season on loan at Marseille after falling down the pecking order at Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag decided to sign Lisandro Martinez this summer and Bailly became surplus to requirements, while Phil Jones remains at the club despite having a lesser chance of getting minutes on the pitch.

During his presentation at Marseille on Monday, Bailly appeared to suggest that his United career is over.

He said (via Manchester Evening News): “My time at Manchester United was very good. I had the chance to win trophies. They progressed in various areas and I wish them good luck.”

Bailly to stay in Ligue 1 after this season?

Bailly’s move to the south of France includes the possibility of a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old joined United from Villarreal in 2016 but had his problems with injuries during his time in Manchester and never really built on the form he showed in his first season at the club.

In total, Bailly made 113 appearances for United.

We wish him the very best of luck at Marseille.
