Manchester United have just two days remaining to complete all of their remaining business in this summer’s transfer window and two deals are yet to be completed.
Antony, the Ajax and Brazil winger, is set to join the club in the coming days after United announced that an agreement has been struck with the Amsterdam side.
Martin Dubravka, the Newcastle goalkeeper, is closing in on a move and United could confirm that deal imminently as Erik ten Hag adds bodies to the goalkeeping department.
Antony and Dubravka would become the fifth and sixth signings of the summer but it has been reported that United have been exploring a late move for Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest, who worked with Ten Hag at Ajax.
Now, journalist and leading transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the USA international’s future. As per the report, the 21-year-old is now considering a proposal from La Liga rivals Villarreal.

Villarreal are said to be holding talks with Barcelona and the decision will come down to Dest’s preference but Ten Hag is keen on the player. Signing him is, however, dependent on Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that United had rejected approaches from two Premier League clubs for Wan-Bissaka, hinting that facilitating a deal on that front was not on the agenda.
SN’s verdict…
Diogo Dalot has enjoyed an upturn in form under Ten Hag and as things stand, he’s the clear number one at right-back. The road back to regular first-team action is long for Wan-Bissaka and a return to Crystal Palace has been rumoured.
Dest is a player Ten Hag helped develop and it follows the theme of United’s new manager going for familiar faces, with three of United’s arrivals thus far working with Ten Hag in the past.
The deal to sign Antony will take United’s spending for the summer past £200m and it remains to be seen whether there’s space left in the budget to sign Dest.
