Sunderland are on the verge of signing Manchester United winger Amad Diallo on loan.

According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, Amad is heading to the Championship to play regular football because his chances are slim of achieving that at United this season following the signing of Antony from Ajax.

Hope tweeted: “Sunderland are closing in on a loan move for Manchester United winger Amad Diallo.”

With just a couple of days left until the transfer window shuts, United have most of their business done but we can expect to see a few more players depart the club – either permanently or temporarily.

Antony was confirmed as a new signing on Tuesday, and he is expected to be followed by goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

Amad needs to take his opportunity at Sunderland

Things didn’t go to plan for Amad at Rangers last season and I’m sure that raised a few eyebrows at Manchester United.

However, all will be forgotten if Amad can get his head down and have an impact in the Championship this season.

He cost United a lot of money, but I didn’t think he impressed on tour. If anything, I thought Facundo Pellistri did a lot more to impress Erik ten Hag during the summer.
