Barcelona forward Memphis Depay has rejected an approach from Real Sociedad as he would prefer to return to Manchester United this summer.
It’s not a signing we imagined at the beginning of the transfer window, but with the Spanish giants struggling with financial problems, there’s a slight chance a move could happen.
Memphis has been linked with a move to both Real Sociedad and Manchester United, however, Spanish newspaper Sport claims the Dutchman has rejected a move to Sociedad because his preference is United.
After falling down the pecking order at Barcelona, it might be a good time to move on.
Memphis already spent just over a season at United, but things didn’t go to plan, scoring just two goals in the Premier League. He then left for Lyon in a bid to rejuvenate his career and eventually earned his move to Barcelona.
At 28, I think United could do a lot worse and there could be good value in signing Memphis.
