Edinson Cavani is heading to Valencia.

Valencia manager Gennaro Gattuso is confident that the La Liga club will sign former Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani this summer.

The Uruguay international has been a free agent all summer after his contract at United expired.

Cavani has been linked with a move to Spain all summer, with Real Sociedad among the clubs interested in signing the 35-year-old goalscorer.

La Real have drawn United in the group stages of the Europa League after recently sold star striker Alexander Isak to Newcastle United.

Speaking ahead of Valencia’s fixture against Atletico Madrid on Monday, Gattuso said (via Manchester Evening News): “I am optimistic by nature, we are working, speaking, I think that we have chances.

“Peter Lim is working a lot and I think that we are going to sign Cavani because Lim has a lot of belief in those chances at the moment.”
