Bruno Fernandes impressed by Van de Beek’s cameo display vs Liverpool

Bruno Fernandes was impressed by Donny van de Beek’s cameo display in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday night.

The Dutchman midfielder has yet to start a competitive game for United under Erik ten Hag, but he came on and played well against Liverpool when the Red Devils were closing out the game.

Jadon Sancho gave United a first half lead with a calm finish, while Marcus Rashford made it 2-0 after the break.

Van de Beek made his entrance following Mohamed Salah’s goal and played his part in the final result.

After the match, Fernandes showed his admiration for Van de Beek, who posted: “Big win, see you on Saturday.”

Fernandes responded with a clapping emoji.

It will be interesting to see how much game time Van de Beek gets over the coming weeks. He now has a manager who understands him best — from his days at Ajax — so he can have no excuses for not improving his game at United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer received a lot of criticism for not playing Van de Beek when he was in charge, but the Netherlands international remains an option from the bench and is arguably after being pushed further down the pecking order following Casemiro’s arrival.
