(Video) Ruud van Nistelrooy admits he’s ‘relaxed’ about Cody Gakpo situation amid Man Utd links

Manchester United are set for a busy end to the transfer window as Erik ten Hag looks to add options to his side, with attacking players seemingly the focus before next week’s deadline.

United have been heavily linked with a move for Ajax star Antony but Cody Gakpo, the PSV winger, has also been suggested as a target this summer.

Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that Gakpo joining United could depend on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future. The 37-year-old was dropped by Ten Hag for Monday’s game against Liverpool and has tried to engineer a move away from the club this summer.

PSV could wait until their Champions League fate has been sealed on Wednesday and ahead of that game against Rangers, manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has admitted that he’s ‘relaxed’ about Gakpo’s situation despite rumours linking him with an Old Trafford switch.

“I’m very relaxed about this situation because there has been rumours for him since the beginning of the season, now almost eight weeks ago. And we haven’t seen Cody changing his behaviour,” Van Nistelrooy told Football Daily.

“As long as he’s a PSV player, he’s here. And that’s for me, what I focus on and he as well. There are no ifs, what ifs.”

Further pressed on whether he prefers to keep Gakpo, Van Nistelrooy was clear: “That’s obvious.”

PSV will strengthen their position to keep Gakpo if they seal qualification for this season’s Champions League group stage and it remains to be seen if United are prepared to pay the added premium that comes with that.
