Brazil midfielder Casemiro has sent a heartfelt goodbye message to Real Madrid ahead of his transfer to Manchester United.

Casemiro is on the verge of signing with Manchester United after both clubs reached an agreement on Friday night. He emerged as a late summer target for the Red Devils after we were made look elsewhere after seemingly missing out on Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong.

Interestingly, they are two very different midfielders and I think Casemiro is a better suit because United desperately need steel in midfield, despite his age which is only 30.

The Brazilian spent seven years at Madrid and will arrive in the Premier League as one of sport’s most decorated athletes, winning five Champions Leagues and three La Liga title.

He is expected to attend United’s game against Liverpool on Monday night, but that match comes too soon for him because he still needs a UK visa and to complete a medical.

Casemiro’s goodbye message to Madrid, when directly translated to English, reads: “I have lived the most wonderful story that I ever thought. I hope to return one day to what will always be my home. Not in a thousand lifetimes will I be able to give back to Real Madrid and Real Madrid all that you have given me. Forever… Hala Madrid!”

Casemiro is expected to fly to Manchester over the weekend.
