Rio Ferdinand has been left feeling a little embarrassing by Manchester United’s behaviour in the transfer window this summer.
The club spent over 11 weeks chasing Frenkie de Jong before deciding to walk away from the deal.
Ferdinand thinks United are desperate in for signing and it shows.
Speaking to his YouTube podcast, Vibe with Five, Ferdinand said: “We’re almost whoring ourselves out for Frenkie de Jong.
“For three months in the summer transfer window, with our cap out begging, we are going like ‘please come to us, please come to us’.
“Erik ten Hag is probably thinking, ‘I’ve been sold a dummy here. I didn’t know I was coming into this’. The players are not at the standard required.”
