Manchester United back in for Ajax winger Antony

Manchester United appear to be back in the race to sign Ajax winger Antony.

Erik ten Hag made the Brazil international one of his targets after becoming Manchester United manager, having worked with him in the Netherlands, but many thought Ajax had priced him out of a summer move.

According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, United are now back in the race to sign Antony, with a “massive offer” in the pipeline.

Sheth states that United tries to sign Antony earlier this summer, but a move failed to materialise, and now the club find themselves looking desperate in the transfer market.

Antony was in fine form as Ajax beat Groningen 6-1 at the weekend. He scored Ajax’s second of the match and spoke about being happy to stay in Amsterdam.

“Will Ten Hag call me? No idea,” Antony told Dutch outlet NOS.

“He has to discuss this with my agents, I’m focused on here. What will come will come, we’ll see.

“I feel good at Ajax. I give everything for this club, every minute. So I am loving this city and this club.”

While Antony got his season off to a flying start, the Red Devils are sitting at the bottom of the Premier League, with Ten Hag quickly experiencing how difficult life can be in English football.
