Talks stall between Manchester United and Adrien Rabiot amid transfer claims

Time is running out in the transfer window and Manchester United has made just one signing in midfield with Christian Eriksen arriving on a Bosman. That has worried supporters who felt that department was miles behind our rivals.

It is inexcusable to sign just one midfielder following the departures of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata this summer.

With no news on Frenkie de Jong, who Ten Hag listed as his primary target, our attention turned to Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The Serie A club are happy for Rabiot to leave and a deal has been agreed between the two clubs.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the deal has been stalling due to negotiations between the player’s agent and United.

Rabiot’s mother, Veronique, acts as his agent and is renowned for being a tough negotiator.

SN’s verdict

Rabiot is not going to fix all of United’s problems in midfield but he would certainly be an improvement on players like Scott McTominay.

That said, I wouldn’t be bothered if the deal fell through.

Frenkie de Jong could be the one to slip through the cracks this time.
