With just two weeks remaining of this summer’s transfer window, Manchester United are still searching for a forward amid Cristiano Ronaldo’s uncertain future at the club.
The 37-year-old asked to leave the club last month but, a proposal from Saudi Arabia aside, has not received any concrete offers.
The latest forward to be linked with a move to Old Trafford is Atletico Madrid star Matheus Cunha – who only joined the Spanish giants in 2021.
Cunha’s playing time has been limited in Spain and he’s now reportedly the subject of interest from United. According to talkSPORT, the Reds are closing in on a deal to sign the Brazilian.

As per the report, a deal to sign Cunha would set United back £42m but the deal is not tied to Atletico Madrid’s interest in Cristiano Ronaldo.
Diego Simeone’s side are still interested in United’s number seven, with Erik ten Hag now seemingly open to letting him leave the club after initially refusing to do so.
SN’s verdict…
Cunha, a midfielder-turned-forward, is the latest attacking player to be linked with a move to United and it’s fair to assume that agents all over Europe are having a field day with the lack of options at Old Trafford.
United are embarrassingly light in that department and supporters can expect to see even more players linked in the last two weeks of the transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether this story has a leg to stand on but United fans will be forgiven for taking everything with a pinch of salt at this point.
