Although there is little to no chance that Anthony Martial leaves Manchester United this summer, with the lack of options Erik ten Hag up front, reports from Italy suggest Juventus have added the French striker to their list of potential targets.
The Bianconeri are on the lookout for a new striker after missing out on the signing of Alvaro Morata, who previously played for the club. They’ve also been linked with a move for former United attacker Memphis Depay as Barcelona look to raise funds by selling players.
According to Tuttomercato, Juventus have listed Martial as a transfer target should he leave Old Trafford this summer, which, like I said above, is very unlikely to happen. The report states the Red Devils will let Martial leave if they can convince Cristiano Ronaldo to stay for another season.
The report states that Martial’s wages could be an issue for Juventus – but they will also need to offer a substantial transfer fee to give United something to really think about.
Given how we prepared for the new season – prior to Martial’s injury – that makes very little sense because we are still a bit light in the attacking department with Martial and Ronaldo at the club.
SN’s verdict
Martial was in brilliant form for United in pre-season and there is no way Ten Hag would let him leave at this stage.
The France international has a lot to prove because I remain unconvinced that we can rely on him throughout the season, but now is the time to set the record straight.
Ten Hag will try to get the best out of him.
