Ethan Laird will be playing in the Championship on loan next season.

Manchester United full-back Ethan Laird is set to join Queens Park Rangers, according to reports.

Despite being heavily linked with a loan move to Watford, the Manchester Evening News claims talks cooled after they signed Mario Gaspar, with QPR set to beat Preston to Laird’s temporary signing instead.

Laird will join QPR on a season-long loan.

Preston already have a United full-back on loan, with U23s Player of the Year, Alvaro Fernandez, joining Ryan Lowe’s side earlier this summer.

Richard Fay reports: “The imminent departure of Laird does not necessarily secure Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future at United, as the club remain eager to shift the right-back.”

However, with Diogo Dalot currently starting at right-back, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ten Hag dip into the transfer market for a new right-back. He’s already signed a new left-back in Tyrell Malacia to push Luke Shaw for a starting place.

Unlike Laird, Wan-Bissaka is incapable of carrying out the responsibilities Ten Hag demands of his full-backs. They need to be able to get forward and create chances with their crossing.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Ten Hag can trust Dalot at right-back this season. Evan at that, I don’t think Wan-Bissaka can be trusted as back-up to the starter.
