Manchester United have started the new 2022-23 season with a defeat.

The Red Devils, led by new manager Erik ten Hag, would have been hopeful they could claim an opening home win against Graham Potter’s Brighton and Hove Albion.

Unfortunately, following a brace from Pascal Gross, even though United managed to pull one back in the second half, the game ended 2-1 to the Seagulls.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game at Old Trafford, club captain and England international Harry Maguire identified the team’s lack of ball control as the reason why Brighton were able to dictate play early on.
