Barcelona right-back would be tempted by Manchester United offer

Manchester United have been linked with a summer move for Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest.

Spanish newspaper Sport claims United are keen to sign the defender on a permanent deal, with the player having previously worked under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

Dest started 17 out of 38 games in La Liga last season and I’m sure the opportunity to become a regular at United would appeal to him.

There had been a few whispers about United showing an interest in Dest earlier this summer, however, it all went very quiet after Ten Hag decided to sign a left-back to strengthen the opposite flank.

United fans will get to see Tyrell Malacia compete with Luke Shaw for a place in the line-up this season, while Alex Telles could leave on loan to join Sevilla.

Since Ethan Laird is set to join Watford on a season-long loan and Aaron Wan-BIssaka is surplus to requirements, it looks like Ten Hag will start the 2022/23 season with Diogo Dalot at right-back.

Yet I would still suggest that United need a new right-back.

While Dest is reportedly happy at Camp Nou, Sport describes a move to United as ‘tempting’ to the player, if an agreement is reached between the two clubs.

The Red Devils have already struggled in negotiations with Barca after spending 10-weeks (and counting) trying to sign Frenkie de Jong.

Do we really want to deal with Barcelona again?
