Cristiano Ronaldo increasingly likely to stay at United next season

Cristiano Ronaldo is not optimistic about getting a transfer away from Manchester United this summer.

According to the Telegraph, it looks increasingly likely the Ronaldo will be forced to stay at United next season, with the club thus far refusing to back down from their stance that the 37-year-old is not for sale.

Ronaldo has been linked with several clubs this summer – Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid – but he doesn’t come cheap and United have yet to receive a bid for the veteran striker.

Erik ten Hag has maintained all summer that he is looking forward to working with Ronaldo, however, he could be just saving face in the media. The manager must get rid of players that are having a negative influence on the dressing room.

That said, Ronaldo is unlikely to start against Brighton in United’s first match of the new Premier League season on Sunday. He only managed 45 minutes of action – on top of one week of training – throughout pre-season.

His only appearance came in the 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano; however, he left the stadium shortly after being substituted at half-time. However, Ronaldo wasn’t the only first-team player to leave early.
