Sevilla among clubs keeping tabs on Alex Telles

Alex Telles has dropped down the pecking order at Manchester United and currently appears to be Erik ten Hag’s third choice left-back.

Tyrell Malacia joined in the summer and Luke Shaw was already miles clear of Telles in the pecking order at Old Trafford, despite the England international blowing hot and cold with his performances.

Sevilla are considered one of 2/3 clubs keeping tabs on the Brazil international and we would suspect that Manchester United are willing to listen to offers.

Reliable football journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that FC Porto are not interested despite reports. He also suggests that a deal – with Sevilla or another club – depends on whether United will cover part of the salary.

Romano tweeted: “Alex Telles could leave Manchester United in the next weeks. Porto are not interested despite rumours, while Sevilla are among 2/3 clubs keeping tabs on Telles. Deal depends on Manchester United to cover part of the salary. To be discussed soon.”

Furthermore, in another update from the weekend, Jonathan Shrager said “talks are ongoing” with French and Spanish clubs over a transfer.

SN’s verdict

I didn’t think Telles took his opportunities in the team last season and, ultimately, he is a complete liability when he is being asked to carry out defensive duties.

For the sake of his international career, it would be a mistake to stay at United because he will lose his place in the Brazil squad – not to mention that this is a World Cup year.

It would be a good time to move him on.
