Ten Hag happy with United teenager after impressive performance vs Rayo Vallecano

Erik ten Hag was impressed with Alejandro Garnacho’s performance for Manchester United against Rayo Vallecano.

The youngster was part of last season’s FA Youth Cup-winning side, and he is being tipped for big things in the future.

Garnacho is not only on the verge of getting a call up to the senior Argentina squad, but he will be knocking on the door for minutes in the first team if he can perform like he did against Rayo Vallecano on a regular basis.

The 18-year-old played 70 minutes against the La Liga side as he caused Rayo Vallecano problems throughout.

Ten Hag was asked about Garnacho after the match, and he was quick to praise the talented teenager.

“We want to give the young players who deserve a chance the opportunity to play,” Ten Hag told MUTV, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “He [Garnacho] showed himself during pre-season and that’s why he played. He played pretty well and his performance was really good.”

United should still look to sign a young goalscorer this summer and I think RB Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko ticks a lot of the right boxes.

We still don’t know what the future holds for Cristiano Ronaldo yet United already appear light in the attacking department.
