(Photo) Facundo Pellistri confirms twisted ankle after Atletico Madrid pre-season friendly

Facundo Pellistri came off the bench in the second half against Atletico Madrid but couldn’t manage to remain on the pitch for the remainder of the match.

Manchester United lost the game 1-0 after a late goal from Joao Felix.

Uruguay international Pellistri landed awkwardly after a run up the pitch and had to be substituted.

Erik ten Hag was not happy with the level of aggressiveness shown by Atletico Madrid in the friendly match.

It was United’s first pre-season defeat of the summer and Pellistri looks set to spend some time in the treatment room.

Pellistri took to social media to confirm that he twisted his ankle, however, he insists it is not serious.

On Twitter he wrote: “I’m fine! I twisted my ankle, a real pity I couldn’t finish the match! Come on @ManUtd”

Pellistri also shared a picture of his foot in a protective boot after the match via Instagram.

As things stand, Pellistri faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford could yet be sent on loan.

Hopefully he can return to training next week.
