Ronaldo announces return against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday

Cristiano Ronaldo has jumped to social media to confirm he will return to action this weekend when Manchester United take on Rayo Vallecano.

The 37-year-old reported back to Carrington this week along with his agent, Jorge Mendes, to discuss his future with United chiefs.

It is believed that Ronaldo wishes to leave United this summer, although the veteran star has hit out at recent reports and how he has been portrayed by the media.

United’s travelling squad for Saturday’s friendly against Atletico Madrid in Oslo did not include Ronaldo, so questions were raised over whether he would be in the squad for Sunday’s game against Rayo Vallecano.

However, in response to a post on social media that suggested he would not take part in any of the games this weekend, Ronaldo said: “On Sunday the king will play.”

It remains to be seen if Erik ten Hag will give Ronaldo minutes in Sunday’s game, but I don’t see why he wouldn’t unless he thinks the Portuguese superstar is on the verge of leaving ahead of the new season. Then, it would be the case of giving Ronaldo minutes he doesn’t deserve.

Maybe Ronaldo should give an interview about his future to clear the air – because I don’t believe Mendes would demand an exit if that’s not what CR7 desires.

It doesn’t sound like there is a lot of interest in Ronaldo’s signature this summer. At 37, you can understand why he no longer appeals to some of the biggest clubs in the world, but he showed last season that he can still score goals at the highest level.
