Fabrizio Romano claims atmosphere is improving under Ten Hag as United prepare for new season

Manchester United fans will be keeping a close eye on team morale this coming season because it was clear last season that a lot of the players couldn’t see eye-to-eye.

Erik ten Hag arrived as the new manager this summer knowing that he has a lot of work on his hands to turn things around at Old Trafford. The first step will be bringing the players together and building a mentality that they will fight for one another every time they step out onto the pitch.

As well as that, Ten Hag will be implementing his preferred style and he knows football is a results business.

In Fabrizio Romano’s recent CaughtOffside newsletter, the Italian journalist explains that he is hearing nothing but positive things about the mood at the club.

“I get asked a lot about possible departures at Manchester United, and earlier in the summer I expected that there could be a few players leaving,” Romano wrote.

“Now, however, my news about the Manchester United dressing room is honestly all very positive. The atmosphere is great – Erik ten Hag is very happy with the approach of 99% of the players.”

The players will be trying to impress Ten Hag and that may contribute to a healthier environment in the dressing room, for now, although it will be interesting to see if Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Carrington will upset any members of the camp.

United fans will be pleased to hear this, but we should remain cautiously optimistic. A lot of these players have thrown the towel in under previous managers, and it will take Ten Hag a few transfer windows at least to reshape his squad.

Surely, it can’t go as bad as last season?
