Fresh hope for United as Xavi plans sit down with De Jong to discuss future

Barcelona are still trying to push Frenkie de Jong out the door.

Sometimes you will see these football clubs try turn fans against players if they refuse to leave, however, what can Barcelona really do when De Jong has signed a multi-year contract? It is a very complex situation.

This is a club that aims to make more big moves in the transfer market this summer and that is likely to have a knock-on effect for other players in the squad. I mean, how many midfielders do Barcelona need next season? Xavi can only pick so many!

The biggest transfer story involving United this summer has surrounded De Jong. Now, we are asking whether he wants to come to Old Trafford or not, and we’ve been none the wise on that front for over eight weeks since talks between the two clubs began.

However, a fresh report from Spanish publication Sport indicates that there is fresh hope for United. It suggests Xavi will sit down with both De Jong and Memphis Depay to inform them that it is best they leave the club this summer, with United being mentioned as the likely destination for the Dutch midfielder.

I just want the deal done at this stage. I’m sick of the running commentary from newspapers across Europe and how Barcelona spread different narratives out to their preferred journalists. It’s tiresome and once the transfer window ends the better.

Let us know in the comments section if you think De Jong will leave Barcelona this summer?

  1. Barcelona and De Jong are just messing Utd around. Walk away and let them mess each other about. We have wasted 2 months dealing with these idiots. It’s time to stop trying to buy players that don’t want to come to our club.

  2. Surely United have learned their lesson with Sneider Ramos over the years
Unless they have concrete evidence that he wants to join walk away and look at Neves
