Christian Eriksen backed to succeed at Manchester United

Christian Eriksen become Manchester United’s second signing of the summer earlier this month as Erik ten Hag moved to strengthen his side’s midfield.

His possession-heavy style is reliant on players like Eriksen and it was hardly surprising to see Ten Hag move for the Danish international once it became clear that he would not be extending his stay with Brentford.

Eriksen, who was available on a free transfer, had several offers on the table but accepted a proposal from Manchester United and is now in line to make his first appearance for the club later this month when the rest of the squad returns from their pre-season tour.

Eriksen has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Old Trafford and he has now been backed to make the most of that by another Danish icon.

“All due respect to Thomas Frank and Brentford, but Christian Eriksen is ambitious and he has become even more ambitious after his accident,” United legend Peter Schmeichel told Tipsbladet, via Sport Witness.

I couldn’t see him taking a chance with Antonio Conte again, nor could I see him staying. And since United have been on the pitch before, the move didn’t surprise me.

Christian Eriksen is a class player, and we need them at United. It’s great to get a Dane to the club. That makes it more interesting for me.

He must see it as a great opportunity to make an impression on football. It is a big club that needs to be turned around, and if Christian Eriksen can take part in it, it will be a huge thing.”

SN’s verdict…
There are no sure things in football but Eriksen will most likely be a hit at United. Fans have wanted to see him in Red for years amid his extraordinary comeback from that EURO 2020 incident, Old Trafford is the perfect place for him.

With Ten Hag, he will be playing under a coach he’s familiar with after the Dutchman helped him on his road to recovery earlier this year.

Eriksen instantly improves the United squad and now, supporters are counting down the days until they get to see him in action for the first time.
