Since Erik ten Hag became Manchester United manager, we have noticed the club has targeted a lot of players that either worked with the Dutch manager at Ajax or play in the Eredivisie.

The Red Devils have made three signings this summer thus far. Tyrell Malacia joined from Feyenoord, Lisandro Martinez will soon meet up with the squad when his transfer as his transfer from Ajax is in the final stages, while Christian Eriksen arrives on a Bosman.

Ajax have been reluctant to leave some of their other players leave such as Jurrien Timber and Antony, who United were both interested in signing this summer, though it reasons to be seen if there will be any development in Ten Hag’s search for a versatile attacker.

And now a report claims Ten Hag’s former club, who he won three Eredivisie titles with, are keen to sign one of United’s academy graduates.

According to Dutch football journalist Gerhan Hamstelaar, Ethan Laird has indicated that the Dutch giants are among a host of clubs looking to seal his signature this summer.

After spending last season on loan at Swansea City and Bournemouth, Laird has a year on his current deal at United and you would think that a decision will be made on his future in the coming weeks.

Earlier this summer, Dylan Levitt returned from his loan spell only to get a one-year contract extension, before returning to Dundee United in a permanent deal.

Laird is a modern full-back with tons of potential, however, there is no denying that injuries have hindered his development over the past year or two. I would like to see him get a new contract and go on loan rather lose him to Ajax.

We wouldn’t blame the 20-year-old if he saw it as a greater opportunity to get first team football at a club playing in the Champions League.
