Manchester United starlet attracts interest from England, Spain and Switzerland

Manchester United starlet Alvaro Fernandez is preparing to go on loan for the 2022/23 season.

The young full-back, who was voted Manchester United’s U23 Player of the Year, is interesting a number of clubs across Europe.

Club insider Jonathan Shrager claims Fernandez is being targeted by clubs in England, Spain and Switzerland. He tweeted: “In terms of loan moves this season for Manchester United’s Alvaro Fernandez, there is currently interest from clubs in England, Spain and Switzerland.”

The Spaniard was rewarded for his progress in the youth teams with a call-up to the first-team squad in April, when Ralf Rangnick invited Fernandez along with Alejandro Garnacho and Shola Shoretire to train with the senior players.

Now it only makes sense to send him out on loan – whether that is to a club in the Championship or further abroad. We can only presume that is why he didn’t make the 31-man squad for this summer’s pre-season tour.

Fernandez has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League, but he was named on the bench for the final four games of last season.

As a left-back, the arrival of Tyrell Malacia would only see Fernandez fall down the pecking order. It makes sense to give him the opportunity to go out on loan and raise his stock as a young talented full-back.
