(Video) “Nobody will be getting carried away” – Andy Mitten verdict on United’s 4-0 pre-season win over Liverpool

Erik ten Hag’s first pre-season match in charge of Manchester United could hardly have gone any better, with the team beating Liverpool 4-0 in Bangkok on Tuesday.

United We Stand editor Andy Mitten stresses that “nobody will be getting carried away” by the brilliant result because it was only a pre-season friendly and United have a lot of work to make up for a disappointing 2021/22 campaign.

United won the game 4-0 thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri.

“I’m certainly more optimistic than I was this time yesterday,” Mitten told Sky Sports as he gave his verdict on United’s win.

He added: “It was only a friendly, absolutely nobody will be getting carried away by that.”

Mitten spoke about United’s tactics against Liverpool and Ten Hag’s emphasis on ball work on the training ground. He explained the manager was emotionless after the game as it was work as usual.

Ten Hag knows the workload only starts here.

As fans, we suspect there will be a few bumps along the way, but it was nice to give Liverpool a hammering. They deserve one in the Premier League next.
