Manchester United want De Jong deal completed by Friday

Manchester United chiefs have told Barcelona they want to conclude the signing of Frenkie de Jong by Friday.

According to talkSPORT, Richard Arnold and John Murtough were in Barcelona on Monday for talks with the Liga Liga giants.

It is believed that the £17m owed to De Jong has been holding up a deal from being completed, so you can only imagine that Arnold and Murtough were in town to seek further updates on that.

The report adds claims that United have already verbally agreed to pay a transfer fee worth £56 million plus add-ons.

This only highlights how poorly Barcelona have been run in recent years and they’ve nobody to blame but themselves.

It’s been pure pantomime watching United deal with them over the summer and I can’t wait until this deal is done and dusted.

De Jong will be a welcome addition to a midfield crying out for quality as well as personnel.

The Netherlands international will be aiming to be recognised as one of the world’s best midfield players again.

  1. It seems that the holdup is a Barcelona and player problem. United are right to give them both this deadline. It needs to go ahead or the club to move on.

  2. It seems that the holdup is a Barcelona and player thing and nothing to do with Manchester United. It needs resolution one way or the other. Time to move on.
