Manchester United open to loaning out left-back ahead of Malacia transfer

Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of signing Tryell Malacia from Feyenoord which means another left-back could be on his way out of the club.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are open to sending Alvaro Fernandez out on loan next season.

It is understood that Fernandez is eager to continue his development and first-team football is being offered elsewhere. There is interest from several Championship clubs – like in January when United opted to keep the player.

At 19, Fernandez should be expecting more game time and maybe he just needs a year or two out on loan. It would make sense to give him that chance instead of holding him down to youth level football.

Fernandez was named on the bench four times by Ralf Rangnick last season – a reward for the form that saw him named as the club’s U23s Player of the Year – and his opportunities are set to become more limited once Malacia joins.

The report also claims United have agreed deals in principle to sign both Frenkie de Jong and Malacia, with the Dutch duo set to arrive at Old Trafford this summer.

This might be a sign that United are finally making moves in the transfer market but they have a lot of work to before the season starts.
