Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson will undergo a medical at Nottingham Forest this week, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claims Forest are understood to have agreed a deal with United to sign the goalkeeper on loan, and with Henderson giving his approval all that is left to be done is his medical before the move can be officially announced.

Henderson is set to undergo his medical once he returns from honeymoon after celebrating his big day last week.

This can be considered great news for all parties.

For United, Henderson hasn’t thrown in the towel on becoming first choice by pushing for a permanent move this summer. I still think he has a chance and now Erik ten Hag will get to watch him closely in the Premier League, albeit in a newly promoted side.

Asking him to stay without assurances he’d become first choice under Ten Hag – after giving him just three games last season (none in the Premier League) — would have been detrimental to his development.

What did he gain last season from sitting on the bench? Very little.

For his own sake, Henderson will get to play every week in the Premier League. That could raise his argument for being David de Gea’s replacement and we shouldn’t forget that the Spaniard has a lot of convincing to do with the next manager.

When it comes to Forest, they will gain a brilliant young goalkeeper who wants to be on the England plane to Qatar later this year.

It’s a good deal for everyone involved.
