Manchester United fans on social media were sent into a frenzy earlier on Tuesday when it emerged that the club had hijacked Olympique Lyon’s deal to sign Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia.
According to reports, an agreement of €17m has been reached with the Dutch club and only personal terms remain before Malacia’s arrival can be confirmed.
That could have implications on other United players, with United now overstocked in the left-back position. In addition to Malacia, if the transfer is completed, United have Alex Telles, Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams as well. Diogo Dalot also played there under both Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Now, it has been suggested that Malacia’s imminent arrival at United could push Telles’ out of the club.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who say that the Dutchman joining Ten Hag’s side will likely spell the end for Telles.

Furthermore, it’s claimed that United will listen to offers for the Brazil international for the remainder of this summer’s transfer window.
Malacia is expected to compete with Shaw for the number one spot on the left flank, whilst Williams is not mentioned in the article.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that United had told Williams that he is free to leave the club this summer following his disappointing loan term at Norwich.
SN’s verdict…
Telles impact at United since joining the club in 2020 has been minuscule and it would make sense for the club to cash in, with this summer’s transfer budget dependent on player sales.
The 29-year-old is one of several United defenders who could leave the club this summer, with doubts hanging over the heads of Eric Baily, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as well.
