Man Utd growing in confidence over Premier League star transfer

Manchester United are desperate to strengthen their midfield this summer and Frenkie de Jong, the Barcelona midfielder, is believed to be Erik ten Hag, prime target for that area.

But with United locked in negotiations with Barcelona, Brentford midfielder Christian Eriksen has emerged as a short-term target for the Dutchman.

Eriksen impressed during his six-month stay at Brentford last season and is now a free agent, with a host of Premier League and European clubs reportedly interested.

Now, United have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Eriksen. According to TalkSPORT correspondent Alex Crook, there is now confidence at Old Trafford that Eriksen could opt to sign for the Reds.

Brentford are also believed to have made an offer for Eriksen, with Everton and Newcastle also thought to be interested in signing the 30-year-old.

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly withdrew themselves from the race to sign Eriksen last week, which could work in United’s favour now.
