The new Premier League season is edging closer but Manchester United have yet to make a single signing this summer.
That makes it difficult for fans to be optimistic about the upcoming campaign, especially when they see their two biggest rivals strengthen by signing Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez.
While talks are underway with Barcelona over a deal for Frenkie de Jong, it sounds like any further activity will have to wait until United know how much they will have to pay for the Netherland’s international.
United have also been linked with moves for Ajax trio Antony, Jurrien Timber and Lisandro Martinez. The Dutch giants won’t sell all those players and Ten Hag might need to pick one for this transfer window.
Timber may well be the player they come back in for at a later date.

Former United coach Rene Meulensteen has raised some valid concerns for Erik ten Hag ahead of his first season in charge at Old Trafford.
Meulensteen told talkSPORT, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News: “It is a bit of a worry. If you look how Manchester City and Liverpool have done their business with Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez.
“They have strengthened. Man United have far more work to do than that. It is a massive step up for Erik ten Hag. He needs to get the dressing room buying into his ideas and way of work, because there are some issues there.
“He needs to sort that out and hit the ground running. You want players to come through the door and you want to get fans excited. I think the messaging from him through the media has to be important.
“They are just sliding and sliding and if I don’t see real quality coming through the door. If Ten Hag has a similar squad to last year with the players who are left, then it will be a big, big challenge.”
