Brother of former Manchester United pair set to replace Matt Judge

Michael Keane and his brother Will Keane both came through the Manchester United academy.

They are both still playing football at a high standard, too. You should be aware that Michael still plays for Everton, while Will is applying his trade at Wigan Athletic.

According to the Daily Mail, their brother Tom is joining the club in a consultancy role from next month to replace outgoing chief transfer negotiator Matt Judge.

The solicitor will arrive at Old Trafford from legal firm Brandsmiths and is expected to take on some of the responsibilities vacated by Judge.

Tom worked on a range of football deals in his previous role and is understood to have a lot of experience in the industry.

The report, co-written by Sami Mokbel and Adrian Kajumba, claims: “Keane will now play a significant role in negotiating transfers and contracts during what is expected to be a busy transfer window for United following the appointment of Erik ten Hag as new head coach; with Frenkie de Jong and Pau Torres among the club’s targets.”

The wording makes me wonder if United had this role in mind for former interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who jumped ship to manage Austria instead.

Let’s hope he can play a role in sorting the wage structure at United, which has been a joke for far too long, with undeserving players getting better contracts at the drop of a hat.
